The State Choir LATVIJA, with its Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Māris Sirmais, will take part in three music festivals in Canada between the 3rd and 13th of July, 2019.

The New York Times has described the State Choir LATVIJA’s sound as “exquisite, beautiful and magnificent”.

The State Choir LATVIJA will present audiences on its Canadian concert tour with gems of Baltic choral music, as well as works by Latvian-Canadian composers. Concerts will feature pieces by Arvo Pärt, Ēriks Ešenvalds, Imant Raminsh, Tālivaldis Ķeniņš, Jānis Kalniņš, Pēteris Vasks, Rihards Dubra, Veljo Tormis, Vaclovas Augustinas, Eleanor Daley, Eric Whitacre, and Morten Lauridsen.

The choir’s debut concert tour to Canada is being undertaken in collaboration with Laura Adlers (The Adlers Agency), as well as the XV Latvian Festival of Song and Dance in Canada (Toronto), and the Music and Beyond and Elora festivals. The visit to Canada is being supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia, the Latvia 100 Office, and the XV Latvian Festival of Song and Dance in Canada, whose representatives invited the State Choir LATVIJA to take part in the festival and Latvian centenary celebrations.
