CD contains two pieces by the abbot of the former abbey Nikolaus Betscher (1745-1811). His heritage of activities as a composer consists of about 40 compositions handed down to us in manuscripts, which unfortunately are in part only fragments – 11 masses, 2 requiems, 16 other works of Latin and German vocal music and a certain number of pilgrimage songs. At his time Betscher’s works were performed not only in Rot an der Rot, but also in Isny, Gutenzell and Maria Steinbach.
