LISTEN TO RECORDINGS OF THE STATE CHOIR LATVIJA ON THE TCHAIKOVSKY HALL WEBSITE

Today we invite listeners to pay a virtual visit to one of the world’s most impressive concert halls, the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall of the Moscow Philharmonic Society.

The concert hall’s archive includes four concerts featuring the State Choir LATVIJA.

  • The oldest recording in the hall’s archive featuring the State Choir LATVIJA is a concert from November 16th, 2012, in collaboration with the Musica Viva Chamber Orchestra and conductor Māris Sirmais. The program features the music of Pēteris Vasks, Ēriks Ešenvalds, Arvo Pärt, Arturs Maskats, and others.
  • On November 11th, 2013, the State Choir LATVIJA and conductor Māris Sirmais joined with the Evgeny Svetlanov State Academic Symphony Orchestra in performances of Mozart’s Requiem and Pärt’s Te Deum.
  • Two years later, in March 2015, the State Choir LATVIJA reunited with the Musica Viva Chamber Orchestra and conductor Māris Sirmais in performances of the Bach motet Jesu, Meine Freude and Rodion Shchedrin’s The Sealed Angel.
  • The State Choir LATVIJA last visited Moscow at the end of 2018. Under the direction of Gramophone Award-winning conductor Maxim Emelyanychev, the choir joined the Musica Viva Chamber Orchestra in a performance of J.S. Bach’s John Passion.
