The closing concert of the 28th International Sacred Music Festival, BUDDHA PASSION, is among the nominees for the 2025 Great Music Award!

At a press conference on Wednesday, January 14, the jury of the Great Music Award announced the nominees for the 2025 Great Music Award as well as the recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Awards.

The 2025 Great Music Award for Lifetime Achievement will be presented to organist Larisa Bulava and composer and musicologist Georgs Pelēcis.

In the nomination category CONCERT OF THE YEAR, the closing concert of the 28th International Sacred Music Festival, “Buddha’s Passion,” has been nominated. The concert took place on September 5 last year at the Riga Congress Hall. The performance of Tan Dun’s opus “Buddha Passion” featured the State Choir “Latvija,” the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, the Riga Cathedral Boys’ Choir, conducted by Māris Sirmais.
Soloists: Viktorija Majore, Ieva Parša, Jolanta Strikaite, Mārtiņš Zvīgulis, Hasibagen, and Yiran Jia.

The award ceremony will take place on March 6 at 7:00 PM at the “Cēsis” Concert Hall. The event will be covered by Latvian Public Media. Voting for the “Delfi” Audience Choice Award will take place from February 17 to March 4, giving everyone the opportunity to choose their favorite among the Great Music Award nominees.
