JAZZ MASS by Linas Rimša
The world premiere of Linas Rimša’s Jazz Mass is dedicated to the creative anniversary of State Choir VILNIUS. It is a five-movement (Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus and Agnus Dei) sacred cycle for mixed choir and big band. The idea to write a modern Lithuanian Mass, combining classical elements with an innovative approach to this genre, originated a long time ago. It was worked on and polished for more than a year. Via modern means, relief melodies, harmony and swift rhythmic twists, the composer imbues traditional sacred mass with novel qualities.
Jazz mass is available for watching from December 28 till January 22 at the State Choir LATVIJA website, section NEWS
