The concert program has been created to honor the 100th anniversary of the German composer, arranger, and musicologist Clytus Gottwald (1925–2023), who gained worldwide recognition and acclaim for his innovative a cappella transcriptions for choir of some of the most brilliant instrumental works. The concert will feature music by Gustav Mahler, Maurice Ravel, Richard Wagner, Richard Strauss, Olivier Messiaen, Joseph Haydn, and Johannes Brahms in Clytus Gottwald’s arrangements.
In addition, to mark the approaching Christmas season, the concert will also include new works by Latvian composers — arrangements of the most beautiful Christmas songs created by Ēriks Ešenvalds, Laura Jēkabsone, Jēkabs Jančevskis, Irīna Mihailovska, Eduards Fiskovičs, Rūta Olekša, and Ivars Rebhūns.
