2025
At the Kilograms of Culture 2024 annual awards ceremony, organist Iveta Apkalna and the State Choir Latvija won the main prize in the Music category for their concert “Iveta Apkalna’s Solo Concert at Riga Cathedral”.
Latvia’s 2025 Capital City of Culture – Cēsis – was inaugurated with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis.
2024
Iveta Apkalna’s solo concert at Riga Cathedral. Guest performers – the State Choir LATVIJA. The concert has been nominated for the Kilograms of Culture 2024 annual award by Latvian Public Media.
At the Cēsis Art Festival, Richard Wagner’s opera Götterdämmerung is performed in concert version. The concert has been nominated for the Kilogram of Culture 2024 annual award by Latvian Public Media.
The State Choir Latvija together with organist Iveta Apkalna performed at Zurich’s Tonhalle in the closing concert of the Zurich International Organ Days. The audience received Selga Mence’s “Kur tu biji, bāleliņi” with particular warmth, as its choral and organ sonorities brought the concert to a powerful close.
From May 1 to May 5, the State Choir Latvija embarks on a concert tour across Ireland, with performances in Kilkenny, Cork, Drogheda, and Dublin.
Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 has been performed to full halls three times—at the Great Guild in Riga and the Latvija Concert Hall in Ventspils. Conductor: Tarmo Peltokoski.

2023
Debut at the Essen festival “Festival NOW!” with the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra. The long-awaited meeting with the French conductor Sylvain Cambreling, playing György Ligeti’s “Lux aeterna” and “Requiem”.
Participation in one of the most important events of European music in 2023 – the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Bavarian State Orchestra, playing Gustav Mahler’s 8th Symphony under the leadership of conductor Kirill Petrenko.
26th ISMF concert “Berlioz. Requiem” nominated for Public broadcasting of Latvia award in culture “Kilogram of Culture 2023”.
At the beginning of September, the British music record label Hyperion released the album CREDO including masterpieces of five composers – Richard Strauss, Sven-David Sandström, Olivier Messiaen, Ambrož Čopi and Matej Kastelic – recorded by the State Choir LATVIJA and conducted by Māris Sirmais.
Returning to Hong Kong and collaborating again with the world-renowned conductor Jaap van Zweden and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, playing Johann Sebastian Bach’s Matthew Passion
2022
The first collaboration with the new conductor of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Tarmo Peltokoski, performing Ralph Vaughan-Williams’ “Sea Symphony” in Riga Cathedral.
25th ISMF concert with State Choir LATVIJA and Netherland based latvian conductor Krista Audere nominated for Public broadcasting of Latvia award in culture “Kilogram of Culture 2022”.
Participating in one of the most complex concerts – Bernard Benoliel’s life work “Infinity – Edge. Transcendental requiem” performance at the Great Guild, dedicated to all artists whose lives were ruined by the horrors of war.
Reunion with Elbphilharmonie and conductor Kent Nagano performing Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 3 in D minor
