2024
26th ISMF concert “Berlioz. Requiem” nominated for The Latvian Grand Music Award 2023 in category “Concert of the year”.
2023
Debut at the Essen festival “Festival NOW!” with the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra. The long-awaited meeting with the French conductor Sylvain Cambreling, playing György Ligeti’s “Lux aeterna” and “Requiem”.
Participation in one of the most important events of European music in 2023 – the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Bavarian State Orchestra, playing Gustav Mahler’s 8th Symphony under the leadership of conductor Kirill Petrenko.
26th ISMF concert “Berlioz. Requiem” nominated for Public broadcasting of Latvia award in culture “Kilogram of Culture 2023”.
At the beginning of September, the British music record label Hyperion released the album CREDO including masterpieces of five composers – Richard Strauss, Sven-David Sandström, Olivier Messiaen, Ambrož Čopi and Matej Kastelic – recorded by the State Choir LATVIJA and conducted by Māris Sirmais.
Returning to Hong Kong and collaborating again with the world-renowned conductor Jaap van Zweden and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, playing Johann Sebastian Bach’s Matthew Passion
2022
The first collaboration with the new conductor of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Tarmo Peltokoski, performing Ralph Vaughan-Williams’ “Sea Symphony” in Riga Cathedral.
25th ISMF concert with State Choir LATVIJA and Netherland based latvian conductor Krista Audere nominated for Public broadcasting of Latvia award in culture “Kilogram of Culture 2022”.
Participating in one of the most complex concerts – Bernard Benoliel’s life work “Infinity – Edge. Transcendental requiem” performance at the Great Guild, dedicated to all artists whose lives were ruined by the horrors of war.
Reunion with Elbphilharmonie and conductor Kent Nagano performing Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 3 in D minor
Premiers of Laura Jēkabsone’s choir chamber opera for children – EJ NU EJ.

State Choir LATVIJA and conductor Māris Sirmais gives concert in Zargoza, Spain.
Good Fridays concert in Riga St. Peters church. State Choir LATVIJA, Sinfonietta Riga and conductor Māris Sirmais performs Adams Lament by Arvo Pärt and Seven Last Words from the Cross – a cantata for choir and strings by James MacMillan
2020
In January State Choir LATVIJA is returning on the Royal Concertgebouw stage in Amsterdam. Iveta Apkalna and Maxim Rysanov are guest artists at the 23rd International Sacred Music Festival.
2019
Concert tour in Spain. Beethoven’s “Missa Solemnis” with the outstanding conductor Gianandrea Noseda in Zaragoza, Barcelona and Madrid.
Germany, Bochum. Ruhrtriennale Festival. Six “Evolution” shows with performance of György Ligeti Requiem
Concert tour in Canada. Latvian Canadian Song Festival Grand Concert, Festival “Music & Beyond” , Elora Festival.
Germany, Hamburg, Elbphilharmonie. State Choir LATVIJA and Māris Sirmais debut solo in collaboration with Iveta Apkalna
2018
On May 4th, the closing concert of the series “Latvian composers for the centenary of Latvia” brought together more than 800 singers. The choir made its debut at the National Music Auditorium in Madrid, performing Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Orquestra de Cadaqués and conductor Antoni Wit.
Together with conductor Paavo Järvi and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the State Choir LATVIJA celebrated the 150th anniversary of Brahms’ German Requiem at Bremen Cathedral.
